The Advisory Board, for the St. Albans Branch Library, is proud to present St Albans Writes..a monthly speaker series featuring local authors.  M. Lynne Squires is an Urban Appalachian fiction crafter, essayist, and poet. She has penned four books, include the award-winning Letters to My Son – Reflections of Urban Appalachia at Mid-Century, as well as Mid-Century Recipes from Cocktails to Comfort FoodWriters on Writing, and Looking Back at Charleston.

Squires’ work has appeared in numerous journals, including Change Seven, The Stoneslide Corrective, and The Ekphrastic Review, as well as multiple anthologies, including three volumes of the Anthology of Appalachian Writers (Shepherd University and the WV Center for the Book 2018, 2021, 2022) and Fearless: Women's Journeys to Self-Empowerment (Mountain State Press 2019).  She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and is the 2020 Pearl S. Buck Writing for Social Change Award recipient.

Currently, Lynne is the host of the West Virginia Author television program, produced by the WV Library Commission. As a former reviewer with the WV Book Team for the Charleston Gazette-Mail, she reviewed books by West Virginia authors, giving exposure to newly published authors and seasoned writers alike.
