Summer Library Club 2026
Are you a teen who needs volunteer hours for school or just wants to give back to your community? Join us this summer as a VolunTEEN! Throughout Summer Library Club, (May 30th - July 31st), you will assist with special events, help prepare displays, shelve library materials, tidy up library areas, and more. All applications must be turned in to the proper branch by April 30th, 2025. A physical application can be picked up at any Kanawha County Public Library building. Questions can be directed to our Teen Services Librarian by emailing noelle.robinson@kcpls.org or calling (304)343-4646 x1251/1278.
Throughout the Year
Some branches or departments may allow VolunTEENs to work throughout the school year, not just during Summer Library Club. Contact your local branch for more information.
Kanawha County Public Library's Teen Services include sporadic events throughout the year (such as making animal blankets for the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association) that allow teens to receive volunteer hours for school or extracurricular activities. One of our most consistent opportunities is Teen Library Club at the Main Library. This event is typically held in the Teen Zone on the first and third Thursdays of each month (see our Monthly Events Calendar for more information). Each branch has its own opportunities, so be sure to look into what your own location has to offer!
West Virginia Book Festival 2025
The window for applying to volunteer at the 2025 West Virginia Book Festival has closed, but you can look ahead to 2026 by reading through our 2025 blurb:
Volunteer with us at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center for the West Virginia Book Festival on Saturday, October 25th, 2025!
Would you like to greet passersby, tell them about our teen services, help them spin the wheel for a prize, and hand out flyers? We'd love to have your help at the Teen Table in our Marketplace Area. Or maybe you would prefer to lift boxes, tidy book areas, and direct people where to go? Then you might be a good fit for our Booksale Area!
If you have already volunteered with us before, please contact your VolunTEEN Coordinator to be scheduled to work the West Virginia Book Festival. All new teenage volunteers should contact our Teen Services Librarian for more information by calling (304)343-4646 x1251/1278 or emailing noelle.robinson@kcpls.org
