The Kanawha County Public Library wants to know what you think about our community and its library services. We’ll use your feedback to help us develop our strategic plan to guide the Library over the next several years.
The Kanawha County Public Library will resume service at its Glasgow Branch Library on Monday, May 1st. The Branch has been closed since August of 2021 due to ongoing maintenance issues at Glasgow’s Town Hall, where the Branch is located.
The 2023 West Virginia Book Festival will be held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Saturday, October 21.
The Kanawha County Public Library returns to Sunday hours at its Main Library on March 5th, 2023. Sunday hours were discontinued with the onset of the COVID 19 crisis and the start of the Main Library renovation in 2020.
The Kanawha County Public Library will again offer free tax assistance in 2023. Federal and state forms are available at all KCPL locations and VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will offer in-person tax preparation assistance beginning February 10th.
A hold locker is a self-service system that allows you to automatically have items that you have placed on hold be checked out to you when you pick them up. You will find the hold lockers on the 1st floor of the Charleston Library across from the Jacobson Tower.
The Kanawha County Public Library’s new Mobile App is now available for free download on Apple and Android devices.
Mark Totten, President of the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Historical Society, donated copies of their children's book Chessie Takes A Train Trip to the Riverside Public Library to give out to Cedar Grove Elementary student

The Kanawha County Public Library unveils its 24-hour Library Kiosk in Clendenin on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Grand opening ceremonies are scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Herald Baughman was a Vice President at Kanawha Banking and Trust when he saved a piece of Charleston history during a renovation. This beautiful brass stand had been in the lobby for customers to use when filling out their deposit and withdrawal slips.
Automatic renewals begin December 1, 2022. Each day at 7:00 PM, our system will identify all items that are still due on that specific day and attempt to renew them.
